NFPW Registration Approaching

It pays to get your registration in early!!
The early-bird registration deadline for the National; Federation of Press Women’s conference in Idaho Falls, Idaho, is August 10 — $299 for members and $345 for non-members. After that date, registration increases to $345 for members and $395 for non-members.
The conference runs Sept. 11-13.

2008 Spring Conference and 30th Anniversary Celebration

Twenty NCPC members took home 95 winning entries and 45 First Place wins in the annual Communications Contest at the Annual Spring Conference and 30th Anniversary Celebration May 16-17 at the Clarion Hotel in Raleigh.

Cartrette is NCPC’s 2008 Communicator of Achievement

Clara Cartrette, NCPC secretary for the past three years, is Communicator of Achievement for 2008. She will represent the organization at NFPW’s COA competition Sept. 12, when a national winner is named.
Cartrette is news editor of the News-Reporter in Whiteville.

Overall Excellence Award Highlights Three High Schools

The annual Clara Cartrette Award of Excellence in High Scholastic Journalism was presented to the staff of Wingspan from West Henderson High in Hendersonville (advisor Brenda Gorsuch).

NCPC Elects New Officers for 2008-2009

This year’s officers elected during the annual Business Meeting to serve for 2008-09 include: President, Gwen White; Vice President-Membership, Suzy Barile; Vice President-Contest, Ken Bucher; Treasurer, Clara Cartrette; Secretary, Suzanne Tate. Jo Ann Mathews will handle website inquiries and Ric Carter will serve on the Board of Directors.
